Last Chance to Vote

a ballot box According to Jean Lambert, the London Green MEP, “London has the lowest voter registration in the country, with nearly 18 per cent of residents missing from the electoral roll in inner London boroughs and 11 per cent in outer London. The average across England and Wales is seven per cent.

Young people, students, some ethnic minorities and new EU citizens are less likely to be on the electoral register. People who have recently moved house or rent from a private landlord could also lose out unless they check they can vote at their current address.

Many people do not realise that they are eligible or that they need to be on the electoral register to vote. As a Member of the European Parliament, I would particularly like to remind all EU citizens resident in London that they can vote in these elections.”

The Deadline is 16th April.
To be eligible to vote in the London elections you must:
be at least 18 on 1 May,
live in London
be a British, Commonwealth or EU citizen.

  1. There are apparently some voters out there who are being led to believe by adverts that they must RE-REGISTER in order to vote in the London elections.

If you have filled in your annual Electoral Roll return, you are OK.
