Dirty Washing

a clothes lineNope, I’m not having a pop at the council or councillors. This is an article I picked up from Philobiblon, an “Always Feminist” blogger with a Green thread. She’s the other Australian feminist writer.

Across the pond in the US of A it seems that in many localities residents are not even allowed to hang their washing outside on a line or plant vegetables in their gardens, let alone install Solar Panels or Wind Turbines. See here. What? Isn’t this supposed to be “the land of the free” and individual Liberty?

This is going to be one “hellova” uphill struggle.

  1. My experience is that clothes dried out in the open always have a much cleaner, crisper feel than those dried inside and without a free flow of air. I suppose that at the end of the day it depends on your sensitivities - give me the natural feel any day.

  2. Unless the neighbours take to burning their rubbish as a result of fortnightly bin collections?

  3. Come to think about it there is also the menace of the barbecue hill-billies.
