Barkingside Business Hub

Yesterday we attended the Barkingside Business Hub networking event at The Chequers in Barkingside High Street and packed it was. Not with Barkingside Traders, but with self employed local business people. This new initiative was set up by local residents Steve and Emma, both of whom run their own business.

The first event was in February but we missed that one and the one in March as they coincided with our coffee mornings. We will have to come to some arrangement.

Also in attendance were four King Solomon students who are doing a project on revitalising and the marketing of Redbridge High Streets, see video made by Sophia Hubs below:

The aim is get businesses working together with each other and with the local community and part of that is to try and get the Town Square used regularly for events fairs and markets. It’s all about promoting localism and the local economy.

Barkingside 21 are looking to team up with the Green Fair people to put on a mini-Green Fair on 24 June to coincide with the Redbridge Midsummer Music festival, which is already booked, and Sophia Hubs to put on an event for Independent Retail Month in July. Watch that space.
