New Ward arrangements for Redbridge Announced

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has now published its final recommendations for the new ward arrangements in Redbridge. This now has to be approved by Parliament but that’s just a formality as all three local party leaders see it as their route to victory. The new arrangements will take effect at the next local elections in May 2018, which is just over a year away.

The major changes are in the west and south of the borough as described earlier, but the commission has listened to representations on South Woodford and adjusted the boundary as suggested.

Here, in Greater Barkingside, Fullwell ward welcomes the people of the Hill Farm Estate and the southern side of Clayhall Avenue while saying farewell to the Timberdene estate and the north side of Fullwell Avenue between there and the roundabout. Those areas move into Fairlop ward, which loses the Repton Park estate to Bridge ward. There is a small adjustment between the boundary of Aldborough and Barkingside wards but other than that things in Ilford North remain as you were.

The council’s press release is here.
