One small step for Khan

Earlier this week three wise men of Ilford penned an undated open letter to the Deputy Mayor for Transport, Val Shawcross, seeking further discussions on providing step free access, i.e. a lift, at Newbury Park tube station.

Local community groups, the Seven Kings and Newbury Park Residents Association and the Aldborough Hatch Defence Association, have both welcomed the move; as reported here in the Ilford Recorder. And here’s the same story in the Ilford Recorder from November 2014.

Meanwhile Transport for All report a sharp upsurge in lift closures due to “shortage of staff” between 2014 and 2016.
Disabled and older people are deeply concerned as they face a 118% increase in lifts out of service due to shortage of staff this year compared to last year. Transport for All (TfA) has met with managing director at Transport for London (TfL) and politicians. More ...
