Never let it be said that we let the grass grow under our feet when it comes to the beautiful game – football, and there’s plenty to get excited about here in London, but not necessarily in Manchester. And this is before we get to that other game by the name of Cricket in the summer.
Last Saturday our prized local sports grounds at Oakfield hosted no less than four Old Boys Cup Finals and what’s more, the Oakfield clubs - Old Parkonians and Bealonians - took a trophy each.
- Old Boys Cup 6th XI Cup: OLD BEALONIANS beat Old Parmiterians 4-2 to become Cupholders.
- Old Boys Cup 7th XI Cup: OLD PARKONIANS took the trophy by 3-2 also against Old Parmiterians.
- Old Boys Cup Minor Cup: Old Owens 3rd XI won 6-1 against Old Egbertian 2nd XI.
- Old Boys Cup 5th XI Cup: Old Suttonians beat Old Parmiterians 4-2.

All four finals were held on the Old Parkonians part of Oakfield, and Bealonians enjoyed our hospitality afterwards – combining as they do to help protect Oakfield – the best pitches in Redbridge – for future generations.
