@Sustrans in Redbridge

Bike ride
There is a sustrans organised bike ride on 22 November (see here for details) along the Roding Valley Way which follows the river Roding, known as Barking Creek when it enters the Thames, from the Romford Road (A118) near Ilford up to Ray Park in Woodford. This is an excellent off-road route that I have walked and cycled many times where I have seen kestrels and kingfishers along the river banks. There is a cafe stop which will be either at Ray Park or Redbridge Lakes which is also well worth a visit, even if you're not fishing.

Redbridge Lakes
Fairlop Waters
As you will be aware an excellent path was built in May and the gateway artwork is in production. There have been some delays in completing the works but hopefully there will be an opening event end of November/ early December.
Sustrans want to get the local schools involved by organising bike rides to the gateway for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. If anyone is keen to get involved in supporting rides, helping set up and run refreshments, etc. please get in touch.

Bretons Bridge
OK I know this is not in Redbridge but it's not that far away and I seem to recall proposals for a similar bridge over the A406 and River Roding south of Ilford town centre, so thought you might be interested. Bretons Bridge is now in place although there will be a few more weeks of works before this section of the route is ready to be opened. If you a construction geek you will like the video below.

An opening ceremony is likely to take place in the New Year and again there will be volunteer opportunities.
