Meanwhile over in Wanstead
– Fish and Ethical Food

Mike Edwards reports:
This is one of the best things to happen to Wanstead High Street since I've lived here - and that's over 15 years. So many small independent shops close down, so we have cause to celebrate the forthcoming opening of Wanstead Fish. (and it's definitely NOT fried, with chips!)
Kevin and Jane, who some of you already know through allotments and green drinks, are opening Wanstead Fish next door to Nice Croissant. They tell us that as far as possible, they will be selling good, sustainably sourced, MSC approved fish, plus otherwise discarded bycatch, and the downright ugly but tasty fish like gurnard!
The time to join me in the queue celebrating being able to buy fresh fish again on the High Street will be Tuesday 15th July..........hooray.

Organic Ilford reports:
We're proud to introduce a new local ethical food business, The Ethical Eatery Company, founded by dynamic Wanstead resident, Elaine Gill.
"Ethical Eatery Company offers food that we know you love through: 'Pop up' restaurants, supper clubs, deli supplies and personal chef services."
Organic Ilford will shortly be supplying Elaine's excellent home-made jams and chutneys made with home-grown/locally-sourced chemical-free produce. For now, here's a picture of her seriously cute van.
