Free Mosiac art workshops for Redbridge children!

Redbridge Peace Monument
The East Ilford Betterment Partnership has secured a Church Urban Fund grant for a community Peace art Workshop to be held at Clementswood Community Centre.

The project will introduce children aged between 5-7 and 8-11 to a rare opportunity for a masterclass workshop in Mosaic art. The session will take place during the 18th - 22nd February 2013 (half term holidays) and our group is seeking potential students for the week long programme. The course is wholly funded and will be cost free for participants.

The theme for the mosaic art workshops will be faith hope and unity. We are required to ensure that a representation from all major local faiths participate on our courses. Priority will be given to children from Clementswood Ward.

The course Instructor is Gary Drostle who is responsible for the installation of the "Redbridge Peace Monument" commissioned by the EIBP in 2011. The top 10 designs produced form the workshops will be inserted into the base of the monument and will form part of the existing permanent public art feature.

As part of this project we are also seeking faith leaders form all major faiths who will be willing to contribute some time to speak of the concept of community cohesion as perceived by their faith and to provide images and models used within wider cultures and faiths to promote peace, which we hope will inspire the young artists.

We also seek members of non-religious local groups who would like to present on faith hope and unity and what it means to them again with images and models following our theme.
