A Waste of Christmas

Today I received the weekly licencing schedule from Redbridge Council. It included an application from Sarah Mills, who was our guest speaker at the October coffee morning, who wishes to visit Ilford Town Centre on Wednesday 9th January 2013, 11am – 2pm, to give a demonstration on ‘love food hate waste’. The event consists of a mobile kitchen with 3 staff demonstrating how we the public can save our waste food with exciting and unique recipes.

So I did a search on the internet to see if I could find some details – and lo and behold I found that there was a similar demonstration today (20th December) in Fullwell Cross Library which nobody told me about. There is also another one at Waitrose South Woodford on Monday 7th January 2013, 10am - 2pm.

Anyways, you are going to need this advice next week I’m sure, so here’s their website. There is a particularly nice Advent calandar, each day having some good tips like ‘how to revive tired floppy vegetables’ and I’m also sure you all know of some vegetables who need reviving.

Don’t waste it this Christmas. Keep cooking ….. or if you can’t cook or don’t want to, there is always the Redbridge Foodbank who would be delighted to receive donations of unwanted, unneeded or unused food.

UPDATE: To clarify. The 'Love food hate waste' roadshow events around Redbridge in the library and Waitrose are information stalls only. The event in Ilford is a live cookery show with mobile kitchen and celebrity chef Richard Fox.
