The Sound of Sirens

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of ……

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of …….

Rule Number 6: When people who are prisoners of the paradigm that caused the crisis are in charge of fixing it, bet on...more crisis.

  2. The "Pet Shop Boys" got it about 20 years ago:

Lost in the high street, where the dogs run
    Roaming suburban boys
Mother's got a hairdo to be done
She says they're too old for toys
Stood by the bus stop with a felt pen
    In this suburban hell
And in the distance a police car
    To break the suburban spell
Let's take a ride, and run with the dogs tonight
    In Suburbia
You can't hide, run with the dogs tonight
    In Suburbia
Break a window by the town hall
    Listen, the siren screams
There in the distance, like a roll call
    Of all the suburban dreams

  3. We are not alone, our problems appear to have spread as far as Nigeria

" At least two herdsmen were killed yesterday around Barkin Local Government Area of Plateau state, while 400 cows were stolen by the attackers"

  4. THE RIOTERS PRAYER:

Our father, who art in prison,
My mum knows not thy name.

Thy Riots come, read it in the Sun,
In Birmingham, as it is in London.

Give us this day our Welfare bread
    And forgive us our looting,
As we're happy to loot those
    Who defend stuff against us.

    Lead us not into employment
    But deliver us free housing.

    For thine is the telly,
    The Burberry & the Barcardi,
    Forever and ever...
