Er. Morris, please note (and I say this as an Old Boy), it's not Coopers School...it's Coopers' Company's....... even though we've had to merge with those darn girls from Coburn. Oh well...
"We are a dynamic, co-educational School for about 1320 pupils. Our mission as a school is to ‘Love as Brethren’ and to ‘Encourage Learning’. We aim to produce confident & well rounded individuals who, within a supportive and friendly community, have developed their potential academically, culturally & socially and are empowered to become positive and effective citizens within the 21st century world, with the character to live out the principle of 'Love as Brethren'."
Actually, I think you will find it is the Coopers Company and Coborn School, as the girls school was named after a lady called Prisca Coborn. Not Coburn.
And from my perspective it all went downhill when the boys joined, not the other way round...!
Aaah! Begosh and begorrah!!
ReplyDeleteIt would be a fine day if it was!
ReplyDeleteCome On! Where are the "Morris" Dancers?
ReplyDeleteGone to Coopers School I suspect.
ReplyDeleteWhere they will have barrels of fun, no doubt!

ReplyDelete"Merging" with the girls is not your forte then Ray?
ReplyDeleteI understand the Coopers' Company School (now Coopers Coburn) had managed to keep that fact quiet so far.

Coborn Girl
To be the pedant it is "The Coopers' Company and Coborn School".
ReplyDeleteYes - and those who know anything about it currently also know that it is usually referred to as "Coopers Coburn" for the sake of brevity.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is usually called Coopers Coborn. Or just Coopers. But every time it is called Coopers CobUrn millions of ex CobOrn girls go "Grrrrrh"
ReplyDelete*grins*
Coborn Girl
Millions = plural, so at least two million.
ReplyDeleteCobOrn was founded in 1701, so has been operating for ~300 years.
That's 6,666 girls per year. That's a mighty big school. Specialising in Sport and Humanities I note. Not Mathematics.
Picky, picky... shoot me!
ReplyDeleteSo I exaggerate. It's still spelt Coborn.
Coborn Girl.
Are you as precise with your potions as you are stringent with your spells?
