Love London

love London logoYou will not be surprised to learn that there is also a London 21 and our old friend Chris Church is chairman of the board. T'was he that was involved in setting up Barkingside 21 and we still see him round these parts on other projects.

We are now well into their Love London three weeker. It started with our own Local Food Day at Forest Farm Peace Gardens and there are lots of other events around London but sadly no more here in Redbridge. You can find a list of events here.

For those who may be in Central London on Thursday there is a discussion at the London School of Economics about Europe's role in improving London's environment and reducing its emissions, 6:30-8:30pm. It’s free but you need to register.

Hosted by Jean Lambert MEP, speakers are:

Maria Adebowale, Director of London-based Capacity Global, who will talk about the Just Cities project, which has brought together young people from London, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels to engage with environmental justice issues and bring about positive change in their local environments.

Chris Church, Chair of London 21 and Co-chair of European network, the Northern Alliance for Sustainability. Chris will talk about 'Acting on Climate Change: From a divided Europe to a common purpose'. He will include the challenges in Eastern Europe and beyond.

Arno Bonte, Member of the City Council of Rotterdam, GroenLinks (Dutch Green Party). Arno will talk about local initiatives in Rotterdam.

The Green Vice-Mayor of the Brussels city region of Watermaal-Bosvoorde has also been invited.
