Mayor Whiplash

No, this is not about the Blond we have just elected as London Mayor. This is about the Blonde that has just been elected as Redbridge Mayor. According to Councillor Aaron in the Ilford Recordershe was affectionately known as Miss Whiplash when she was chief whip”. That’s not the term I heard, but we won’t go into that. So, here she is, introducing our new Mayor Loraine Sladden.
Mayor Loraine Sladden
This is not a political position, she will be our First Citizen and represents us at functions etc and Chairs the Full Council meetings. She gets to ride around in one of those new Jags that caused such a fuss last year, wear a big necklace and a heavy red robe with white furry trimmings.

Her chosen Charities for the year are the well known Haven House in Woodford Green and the newly formed The Dream Factory. According to a This is London report it was launched in February by former Haven House Events Manager Avril Mills [another blonde] and is just finding its feet.

  1. Aww come on - it's not the blonde factor - more the 'aura' that is part of the 'whole person' - I for one am going to give Our First Lady all encouragement in her attempt to provide a good future for this Borough - surely we owe that much.
If anything goes 'determinedly wrong' the troops will rally to indicate the several different routes possible.
Each Mayor has something to offer and even if it's the happiness in the lives of the few that are visited - that's worth the price of the 'jag' to them.
This post will have all eyes focussed and one or two microscopes of course. And Wanstead IS a spot on the Map!

  5. All Mayors raise much needed funds for charities , If you have a spare £30,000 or so sloshing around put up or shut up. Dont knock these people . Haven House & Dream Factory are registered charities who both help terminally ill children and their families. I for one will be making a donation and I hope you will be too. Support the Mayor's Charities!! Dont knock them !!

  6. Eh?
I can't see anything in the above that is "knocking" those two charities.
In fact, the post is giving those two charities a plug [with links] just as this site did last year for Cllr Mrs Ryan including reference to the saga of the Jags.
