Green Fair - Reminder

a scene from the 2005 fairThe Redbridge Green Fair is on Sunday 27th May from 11.30am - 7.00pm at Melbourne Field, Valentines Park in your local community.
This is the largest community event in Redbridge and is a festival, organised by local volunteers, promoting environmental issues and celebrating our multicultural community. It is held bi-annually. It's called "green" because it's all about the planet-the environment and the people!

Admission is free.

The Redbridge Green Fair has a real local feel with wide community participation as helpers/organisers, stallholders and performers. They attract an exciting mix of different stalls including voluntary organisations, religious and political groups, alongside the extensive environmental ones, plus arts & crafts, holistic health, peace and justice, animal welfare, traders, fair trade etc - usually around 120.
They also have the extensive Give or Take stall run by Forest Recycling Project that is a great fusion of our environmental and community principles.
All food sold will be vegetarian (no plastic/polystyrene containers!). There are three music stages - including one powered by hydrogen - (World Music, Youth, Bands ( plus a special guest appearance by "the Others") and a large and exciting children's Green Arts area.
They will even have a Solar powered Cinema this time! There will be organic beers and wines on sale too all day.
Free shuttle buses will operate to and from Ilford and Gants Hill stations from 11.30am - 7 pm (up 10 minute wait) and from Manford Way Library, Hainault . ( 20 minute wait.)
The event is supported and sponsored by Redbridge Council and Area Committees 5 and 7 although they cherish their independence! In 2005 they attracted 6,000 people from the area and they all tend to stay for ages, expect even more this time.
Further details, together with photos of previous Redbridge Green fairs, stall booking forms etc can be downloaded from

Look forward to seeing you and all your friends at the Green Fair.
Cllr Linda Eyre.
